How to Mount Your Dell WD19 Dock Under Your Desk

If you have a Dell WD19 docking station sitting on your desk, taking up valuable workspace, this guide is for you. In about five minutes and with just a screwdriver and a drill, you can get your dock completely hidden under your desk and never think about it again.

This is exactly what the Section117 WD19 dock mount is built for. No universal adapter, no guesswork, it's precision-fit to the WD19 body specifically, using the existing threaded holes on the back of the dock so nothing is glued, zip-tied, or rigged.

What you'll need

Everything comes in the box. You'll need a drill with a small bit for pilot holes, a screwdriver, and about five minutes. That's it.

Step by step install

Step 1 — Open the package

Inside the box you'll find the dock base plate and a screw bag. Set the screw bag aside for now and get familiar with the base plate. You'll notice it's shaped specifically to cradle your WD19, that's intentional.

Step 2 — Mark your hole locations

Hold the base plate up to the underside of your desk where you want the dock to live. Most people go directly under their monitor, off to one side, or tucked toward the back of the desk. Mark the two mounting hole locations with a pencil or your fingernail.

Step 3 — Drill pilot holes

Using a small drill bit, drill two pilot holes on your marks. Pilot holes prevent the wood from splitting and make the screws go in cleanly. Don't skip this step, especially on thinner desktops.

Step 4 — Insert thumb screws into the dock

If your dock requires thumb screws to engage the mount, thread them into the existing holes on the back of the WD19 now. These are the same threaded holes Dell put there, the mount uses them directly, which is what makes this a proper fit rather than a clamp or adhesive solution.

Step 5 — Mount the base plate to your desk

Hold the base plate up to the pilot holes and drive the two mounting screws from the bag through the plate and into the desk. Hand tight plus a quarter turn is plenty. You don't need to overtighten.

Step 6 — Insert the dock

Slide or click the dock into the base plate using the applicable method for your configuration. Once it's seated it should feel solid with zero movement. Give it a firm tug to confirm it's secure before plugging everything back in.

That's it. Your dock is now hidden under your desk, your cables run up from below, and your desktop is clear.

Which WD19 models does this fit?

This mount fits the full WD19 family including the WD19, WD19S, WD19TB, WD19TBS, and WD22TB4. If you're not sure which model you have, flip the dock over and check the label on the bottom, the model number is printed there.

Common questions

Will this damage my desk?

Two small pilot holes is all it takes. The mounting screws are small and the holes are easy to fill with wood filler if you ever move the dock or change desks.

What if my desk is too thick or thin?

The mount works on most standard desk thicknesses. If you have an unusually thin or thick desktop, reach out before ordering and we'll confirm compatibility.

Can I remove the dock easily?

Yes. The dock slides in and out of the base plate so you can remove it any time without tools. The base plate stays screwed to the desk and the dock pops in and out as needed.

Do I need any special tools?

Just a drill for the pilot holes and a screwdriver for the mounting screws. Both are standard household tools.
